Understanding Trauma and Sleep:

Basics and Treatment Mapping

In mental health treatment, it can be hard to prioritize goals for therapy.

For this workshop, we’ll review why healthy sleep should be considered in the list of goals, especially when healing from trauma. All forms of trauma, whether past or present, affect the body’s ability to sleep and rest well, things that are essential for surviving through and beyond trauma.

Workshop goals:

  • Discuss the connection between sleep and mental health
  • Discuss the relevance of sleep issues to the treatment of sequelae of trauma and PTSD
  • Review why and how to include sleep in case conceptualizations

This workshop is geared towards mental health service providers but has relevant information for anyone with a body.
