Independently Licensed Clinician Sessions
Our independently licensed therapists have worked as a therapist long enough to gain recognition to practice independently in the state of AZ. Many of been in private practice and have received advanced training in modalities such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR- Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing, IFS- Internal Family Systems, ACT-Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and TF-CBT- Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Most have been practicing for years and are supervising other associate level therapists.
Self-pay rates:
Individual Therapy $165 – $145 (50 minutes)
Relationship and Family Therapy $190 – $170 (50 minutes)
Associate Licensed Clinician Sessions
Our associate clinicians have completed their course work and internship and passed the licensing exam. They have an associate license recognized by the state of Arizona but they are being supervised by an independently licensed clinician so their services are offered at a reduced rate. Despite not being independently licensed yet, they have extensive experience as a therapist.
Self-pay rates:
Individual Therapy $120 – $100 (50 minutes)
Relationship and Family Therapy $145 – $125 (50 minutes)
Trainee Clinician Sessions
Our trainees are carefully selected and found to have great clinical judgement, ability to build rapport with a wide variety of clients, and an eagerness to provide quality therapy. Trainees work at Tucson Counseling Associates in exchange for clinical hours and supervision needed to obtain their masters degree in counseling and clinical social work or their doctorate in clinical psychology.
Self-Pay rates:
Individual Therapy $70 – $25 (50 minutes)
Relationship and Family Therapy $95 – $75 (50 minutes)
Coaching/Consultation
Working with a coach is different than working with a therapist. Coaching/consultation work differs from psychotherapy in that we will be focusing more on current stressors and finding solutions to repetitive present day problems using the specialties of the particular coach.
Self-pay rate:
$50 – $200 (50 minutes)
*80 min sessions are pro-rated at the agreed upon self-pay rate

We ask all clients to call the number on the back of their insurance card to confirm their in-network rate before their first session — we’ve found members get the most accurate information directly from their insurer.
The insurance representative may ask for the billing codes that will be used and the provider name:
- Psychotherapy — billed under Katherine Kincaid (NPI: 1689094575), regardless of which therapist you see.
- Codes: 90791 (intake), 90837 (individual therapy), 90847 (couples therapy)
- Medication Management (PMHNP) — use the name and NPI of the prescriber you’re scheduled to see:
- Shon’Tell LaRochelle – NPI: 1316524879
- Cam Dyman – NPI: 1285154963
- Codes: 99205 (initial), 99214 (ongoing – 30 min follow-up), 99417 (documentation)
You have two options for how to proceed when using insurance at TCA:
- Call your insurance company. Confirm your copay or estimated out-of-pocket cost and let us know before your appointment. We’ll charge that rate at time of service. If your insurance later reports a different rate, we’ll charge any remaining balance to the card on file, or credit your account for any overpayment.
- Skip the call. We’ll charge our full contracted rate until your claim processes, then adjust your account (charge or credit) once we receive the final rate from your insurance — this can take a few weeks to a few months.
Self-pay is always an option too. If you have a high deductible you don’t expect to meet, the self-pay rate may end up being more cost-effective.
