Bonnie Keene

Hello! I’m Bonnie Keene.

Deciding to start counseling is a big first step. The next step is trying to find out which counselor feels like the right fit for you as you begin your personal healing journey. It’s ok to be nervous, but remember, you will not be alone in this process. We are here to help you get the help you need.

My approach to counseling is person-centered and based on getting to know you as the unique individual you are. Each of us has our own story based on our own life experiences which have made us into the person we are at this moment. I believe we each hold the ability within ourselves to heal and grow. Sometimes we need help finding our way when we feel stuck, frustrated, lost, or when life’s circumstances and the world around us get overwhelming. This is where I hope to join you on your journey by creating a welcoming, safe, authentic, and non-judgemental environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered as we navigate life’s challenges and develop therapy goals together.

After recently retiring from a 20-year teaching career, I am currently in my final year of graduate school at Prescott College pursuing my Master’s of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling. am excited to bring my life experience and passion for helping others to Tucson Counseling Associates. I deeply value diversity and am dedicated to fostering inclusive, affirming, and supportive spaces for individuals and couples from all backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs.

My education and experience allow me to explore various areas of interest, including working with individuals and partners navigating issues related to sexuality, aging, body issues, life/work transitions, chronic health conditions, grief & loss, stress-management, trauma recovery, & PTSD. I also look forward to working with couples seeking to strengthen their relationships (traditional/ethical non-monogamy/ polyamory)  and members of the LGBTQIA+ community (teens through adults).

I recognize the profound impact of trauma, attachment, and physiological experiences on mental health.  I am particularly drawn to modalities which include holistic and somatic approaches that integrate the powerful mind-body connections to facilitate healing, resilience, and overall well-being. As our counseling relationship grows, I will be committed to tailoring therapeutic interventions to honor your unique experiences and needs. I am here to support you through life’s challenges, offering a compassionate ear, practical strategies, and a collaborative approach to help you achieve your goals.

I invite you to reach out to schedule an appointment or to learn more about the many counseling services available and find the best fit for your specific needs. Your journey to wellness and positive change starts here, and I am honored to be your guide.
