Queering DBT:

Both/And Healing for Queer & Neurodivergent Lives

Clinical credit hour class cover

We’ll explore DBT through a queer and neurodivergent lens by reimagining its skills and assumptions. We will examine where traditional DBT aligns with—and falls short for—queer and neurodivergent clients, and practice meaningful adaptations that honor identity, interdependence, and systemic context. This session won’t overhaul DBT or offer a complete framework, but it will provide a starting point to make skills more accessible, affirming, and relevant. Designed for clinicians curious about anti-oppressive practice, it’s an invitation to hold complexity, embrace “both/and” thinking, and learn tangible tools to use with clients.

Sage Argyros (she/they), LMSW

Sage Argyros (she/they) is a queer, neurodivergent therapist who integrates DBT and queer theory to support LGBTQIA2S+ and neurodivergent clients. They believe personal healing is a radical act of resistance in a world not designed for everyone to thrive. Sage developed a Queer & Neurodivergent DBT group and workbook that bridges queer theory and DBT through using dialectics to challenge binaries, center interdependence, and validate emotion as resistance.
