Coco Montellano

My therapeutic style is strengths-based, client-centered and collaborative. I believe your lived experience is knowledge, and I aim to center that knowledge in our work together.

My clinical orientation is informed by psychodynamic and relational theories, and influenced by feminist theory and liberation psychology. As a social worker, I utilize a person-in-environment framework, which means we will work to develop an understanding of how the context of family, community, and the world at large have shaped your relationships to yourself and others. I aim to bring attention to the ways in which our inner world is framed by systems of power and privilege. Further, I believe that through the creation of a meaningful therapeutic relationship built on trust, playfulness, and bravery, one can grow to be more confident to open up new possibilities for connection with oneself and others.

I am excited about working with all people, especially with those exploring queer sexualities/genders, and with those wanting to examine experiences of race and racialization.

I look forward to working with you in this journey!
