Erica Saunders

I honor what makes us unique and appreciate each individual experience. I believe we want to be our best selves and find happiness and enjoyment in our lives. Sometimes discovering what is hindering this growth is found in a supportive, therapeutic relationship.

I’ve worked with diverse groups in diverse settings over the past 15+ years. I always use a person-centered approach, often with an individual focus on mindfulness-cognitive therapy, strengths-based, solution-focused and Internal Family Systems (IFS) strategies. Identifying coping and protective mechanisms allows for the development of self-compassion and healthier choices. Additionally, systemic strategies help us consider the importance of our larger environment. The most successful therapeutic approaches are the ones you find most helpful, so this is considered at every step along the therapeutic path.

I have many years of experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, communication issues, relationship issues, life transitions and identify-formation (including sexual orientation, relationship preferences and/or gender identity), grief, body-image issues, parenting issues, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders and childhood trauma. I believe in the significance of the mind/body connection and incorporating somatic experiences into therapy, through movement, mindfulness and other methods of aligning our whole being.

Integrating life experiences into therapeutic work is vital, and for some, insights gained through psychedelics can be beneficial. I am happy to explore new perspectives or curiosities from your experiences that happen outside of the therapeutic relationship.
