Malorie Ward

My therapeutic approach is grounded in intersectional feminism and trauma-informed care, which means I deeply value and respect each person’s unique experiences and identities, while recognizing the significant impact of trauma, cultural and systemic factors, and oppression on mental health. My aim is to create a warm and accepting space where we can explore various insights, techniques, and tools to holistically address your needs and empower your inner resources for healing.

I utilize therapeutic techniques from modalities that emphasize mindfulness and self-compassion, exploration of core beliefs, identity formation and critical consciousness, and alignment with personal values, all while recognizing that the root of the problem lies not within the individual, but in broken systems. These modalities include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. To address the effects of trauma, we may also incorporate techniques including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with the aim of promoting a sense of internal safety, empowerment, and integration of mind, body, and spirit.

I am particularly passionate about working with adult survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and familial abuse. I have both clinical and research experience in the area of healthy relationships, gender-based violence mental health intervention, and crisis advocacy. I also work with couples seeking to strengthen their emotional bond, navigate areas of tension, and better understand attachment wounds, patterns, needs, and boundaries to cultivate tenderness, connection, and equity in relationships. I draw from a range of relational modalities, including Attachment-Based Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method, to inform this work.

I am committed to an approach that is culturally humble, anti-racist, and LGBTQIA+-affirming. Working under the supervision of an independently licensed therapist, I prioritize the feedback and input of my clients, and regularly seek consultation as well as guidance from scientific evidence.
