Alyssa (she/her)
James Hillman said, “Becoming more and more oneself- the actual experience of it is a shrinking, in that very often it’s dehydration, a loss of inflations, a loss of illusions.”
It can be unnerving to shed versions of ourselves that no longer fit and I see my role as your therapist as witnessing and tending a space of attunement, presence, and awe at your unfolding and reclamation. I draw inspiration from depth (Jungian and neo-Jungian) psychology, somatic, trauma-informed, decolonial, ecopsychological, and mindfulness traditions as they involve recognizing, and critiquing the impact of systemic violence, cultivating soul growth, and repairing the body’s ability to deeply feel and heal, which can restore a sense of meaning, belonging, empowerment, and connection. I believe that working with dreams, non-ordinary states of consciousness, art, and the body greatly enhance the therapeutic process, and welcome and invite them in.
I enjoy working with adolescents and adults, individually and in relationship (romantic, platonic, familial).
In addition to my education as a counselor, I have a background in teaching/guiding embodiment and meditation practices and facilitating dreamwork. I’m also trained to offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. I began working in mental and behavioral health in 2018 as a Counselor Assistant in residential treatment for women and adolescents navigating disordered eating and co-occurring conditions, and continued in the field working alongside therapists at the outpatient level before deciding to pursue licensure.
